I interviewed several contestants. According to their words, the southern part of the track was inactive, the air was too stable, the cumulus clouds were disintegrating very fast. But north from Prievidza, the hills and also the thermal activity was significantly better! Several planes have climbed up to about 2300m MSL and finish the task at a very good speed!
The first competitors are just starting to land. Some of them were able to fly the whole track, others decided to scratch. The relatively strong wind and overheated air certainly did not create ideal conditions for today's task. We will see what the results will be and what the raceers will say about the conditions on the track after they anchor their gliders and come to refresh themselfs at our Aerorest.
