Who hasn't experienced FCC yet will just hardly understand the atmosphere! All those friendly and strangely familiar feelings were easily recreated no matter what Covid phase we are at. Of course, restrictions, online briefings are a must in these times, but all 38 pilots are fighting this weather daily. This weather is not really pleasant to equally pilots and our task setter. The 1/3 of normal FCC capacity is definitely keeping the standards of this competition.
In case you couldn't participate in this year's FCC, I list for you all the things you are missing out on.
All communication is mostly online, the task setter is juicing out everything it gets from these weather conditions every single day to enable as many flying days as possible. So far we have had 6 flying days, 1 of which was racing otherwise all AATs. The racing task had to be an all-time favourite as only 3 pilots managed to come back home successfully.
But as we all know, competition is not about flying the beautiful long racing tasks, it is about the struggle, which this year's FCC fully provides to all participants!
BTW, the start usually takes only 30-45min thanks to 6x WT9 Dynamic, 1 Z-37 Čmelák and the newest member to the towing team WT9 Dynamic Super turbo :). I think being way faster with the new engine Rotax 915is is something we can be all looking forward to no matter what heavy cow we have to tow from the ground.
I think we can all agree FCC is a great competition with a specific atmosphere, where things as steak tartare for all competitors made by the competition director is just a normal thing to do :) Speaking for everyone- it was awesome and so worth the breath!
Let's see what the last 4 days of FCC will bring to us!
